Civil Partnership

Civil air about hotel weddings FEBRUARY is upon on us, spring is in the air and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so thoughts are turning inevitably to romance. And in the spirit of inclusiveness newly enshrined in Irish law, one city hotel is positioning itself as the ideal location for civil partnership ceremonies as well as traditional white weddings. Since the Civil Partnership Act was passed in December, the Commencement Orders means same-sex couples will be able to apply to the Civil Registrar to enter into a civil partnership. The Absolute Hotel was granted a licence to hold civil ceremonies last year and Wedding Co-ordinator JoAnne Hickey is keen to exploit this new angle in the nuptials market. The hotel was the official sponsor of Limerick Pride in 2010 and says it appreciates the glamour and the fun that comes with looking after a Civil partnership weddings.
