Father's day

WHO OR WHAT IS MODERN MAN?

Not to get all philosophical on you, but with Father's Day on the horizon, you might be wondering what to do to make the man in your life feel special.

With that in mind the Absolute Hotel Limerick posed the question: what is modern man?

He still mows the lawn, right? Right, but he has a skincare regime too. He packs school lunches for the kids? Yes, but he also enjoys a good beer. He wouldn't say no to a steak, would he? Indeed, he wouldn't - but just a salad with that would be great.

So, this June 19, will your man be content with the typical gift of boxer shorts, slippers or a spanner set?  Or would he appreciate a pamper session, a night away minus the children, good hearty food and craft beer?

Do you know a modern man?  When you walk in the door of this ultra-modern hotel, you will find the ultra-modern man.

Meet Chrystian, our much-loved head concierge.  He is 30 years old and married with three children, aged 3, 6 and 10.  What is a typical day for him?

Chrystian and his wife both work full time and the household has a 6am start.  In this hour prior to work at 7am, Chrystian makes the kids' lunches, walks the dogs, eats breakfast and gets to the hotel.

At 3.30 in the afternoon he leaves work, collects the kids and starts homework.  Chrystian manages to fit in playing his bagpipes for half an hour and also goes to music lessons twice a week!  At 7pm his wife returns to a homemade dinner.  What a guy!

Ring any bells, ladies? These days, it seems that childcare and domestic duties are spread around more evenly and modern man is here to stay.
But that kind of hero deserves special consideration, so give your modern man the gift he deserves this father's day.
